Well, hello there! I’m so happy to have you. Welcome to Type A Style- a fashion blog devoted to style, design, and snapshots of my everyday life. I’m Amanda, a self-driven fashionista motivated to bring a frugal outlook on a chic lifestyle. I can’t wait to share with you fashion and beauty tips, #ootd’s, interior design inspo, and so much more!
“This is the story of a girl”
I’m a 27-year-old Disney-princess disguised as a girl boss living in a small town in Kentucky. In the words of Niki Minaj, “sometimes you gotta be both the beauty and the beast.” I’m a senior business analyst for a national healthcare company and I thankfully work-at home, which is a huge lifestyle blessing. It allows me to pursue all my dreams across all spectrums of my life.
I’m happily married to my high school sweetheart, Joshua Dean. We’ve been together since 2010, but were promoted to husband and wife in 2016. He is an amazing man- filled with so much loyalty, strength, & pizza. While our nightly routine of dinner out-to-eat and LivePD isn’t always interesting, we’ve actually experienced a lot of trials life loves to throw at ya through our relationship. But because of that, our love story is definitely my favorite.
Together, we spend the majority of our time obsessing over our newborn son, Maverick, and his furry brother, Bentley.
Parenthood has been the most difficult, yet most rewarding experience in our seasoned lives and we love every moment of it.
Our first born will always have a special place in our hearts. He loves making new friends, watching football, morning snuggles, and tacos. He’s pretty much human.
Behind the fenty foundation-ed face and Kate spade handbag, I’m just a sinner graciously saved by the one true King. Though I am very flawed, He still loves me and strengthens me daily. Ask me about Jesus- I’d love to tell you more about His unending love!
I am so blessed to have the best people in my life! Everything I am is because of my parents. My two younger brothers are my partners in crime. My best girlfriends keep me sane and we have the greatest group of friends (shoutout to Da Crew!!).
I’ve always been a girly-girl: all pink everything and dresses for days. My true love for fashion grew as I began to discover who I was. With a classy persona and an attitude that’ll bite, I found that I could express myself through my daily outfits. But to be honest, I just never grew out of playing dress-up. My style is unique to who I am. I love mixing pink ruffles with black leather and a statement necklace for sparkle. I’m a shoe freak with an obsession for bikinis and coats– because a Kentucky girl has gotta keep up with the bipolar weather. Accessorizing is my favorite hobby and Kylie Lip Kits are my best friends.
Favorite brands: Target, TJMaxx, Kate Spade, Old Navy
It wasn’t until we purchased our first home that I discovered my instinctual interest in interior design. I grew up in a local family business in the home construction industry. My father is a home contractor by trade- so since birth, I have been surrounded by new homes and witnessed the ever-changing styles of homes. While it has always been integrated into my DNA, I didn’t realize my love for design until recent years. Like my outfits, I love to mix styles- rustic farmhouse with lots of shiny glam.
I’m probably the only “interior designer” who hates HGTV. I know most of you think I’m crazy for not having Chip and Joanna set to my DVR, however, I’m just not a total fan. My husband constantly begs me to watch, but I find most of my inspiration through Pinterest and shopping. In fact, a few years ago, my family and I were featured on an entire episode of Lakefront Bargain Hunts on HGTV. However, they didn’t pay me enough to religiously watch their channel. (Just kidding- I didn’t get paid.)
Probably the reason I don’t watch is because it takes me away from the Kardashians and Real Housewives. Judge me all you want, but I am a reality-show junkie! I know all the real housewives and I keep up with the Kardashians on a daily basis.
Favorite housewives: Bethenny Frankel, Heather Dubrow, Erika Jayne
My favorite thing to do at home is fill it with friends and family. I love hosting (thanks Mom!) and party planning is my nightjob. Give me a theme and I’ll run with it! Wedding planning was my ultimate dream, and now that it is sadly over, I spend my time planning and decorating for many parties- bridal and baby showers, march madness shindigs, and our annual NYE affair.
To sum it all up, here are 10 random facts about me:
- I love Taco Bell
- I’m a lady in the streets, but ASLEEP in the sheets- especially during my daily naps
- I graduated from a prestigious private university in Louisville, KY as a biology nerd
- I’m a former HS and college volleyball player, but I’m a clumsy clown off the court
- Christmas is my favorite holiday, but NYE is my favorite party (we got married NYE weekend 2016)
- I’m fluent in English, T. Swift lyrics, and police 10-codes.
- Running late, running to target, and running my mouth are all forms of my cardio routine
- Gimme your yellow starbursts because I’m the freak who loves them
- The cashiers at TJMaxx know me by name and know I like to buy a lot of pink
