If you have been keeping up with my Instagram lately, you know that our new home is moving along quickly. We now have drywall and the first coat of paint. Picking out paint colors was definitely a pain. With so much pressure to make a decision and all factors and opinions to consider, I definitely got major anxiety from it all. However, I see the final look in my mind and I am confident it will all come together in time.
In our first home, I chose a wide variety of in-your-face colors. While the boldness fit my personality, I am doing the complete opposite for this home. Whites and lite grays consume the walls- leaving a clean and open canvas ready for decorating.
I am beyond excited for everything to finally start to come together, but so ready to be moved in! Until then, I grasp onto the inspirations and samples I have pieced together for my dream look. And I am excited to share those with you! Below, I have created vision boards for some of the key areas of the house. And they all have one common theme- GREY!
Kitchen
I grew up in a house where all meal and many memories were made in the kitchen. And so, the kitchen is always the epicenter of my home. Therefore, it only makes sense to revolve the vibe of the entire house around our kitchen. I am oober-excited for the light-grey shaker cabinets I have chosen (pictured above). Because we have an open-concet with our home, the kitchen and living room tie together, therefore, I chose one paint shade- Intense White (OC-51) by Benjamin Moore. Apart of the Off-White Collection, this sophisticated shade is endlessly versatile, with undertones of grey- which pairs perfectly with the kitchen cabinets. I have not decided on a backsplash, however, I intend to go with a white marble-styled herringbone pattern (shown above).
One of my favorite parts of the building process is picking out light fixtures. I pretty much knew what I wanted before we even broke ground. It brings together all the decor aspects of the home and makes for an overall classy look. I treat the light fixtures as decorating pieces, so simplicity is not on the to-do list. I love the caged chandelier (shown above) for above our dining room table. The only piece I am unsure about is the fixtures above the island. I have planned for 2-large pendants, but cannot decide between the 2 lanterns shown below. I love y’all’s opinion- so feel free to vote for your favorite by using the comment section below!!
Living Room
As I mentioned earlier, the kitchen and living room go hand-in-hand. Therefore, the same paint color applies (Intense White OC-51). I went with a paint color from the white wheel so it wouldn’t overwhelm the dark charcoal grey tufted sofa and loveseat we have purchased. I plan to fill them with metallic and faux fur pillows to add chic, plush decor. Our TV will hang over the simple, white mantle, with 2 tall windows on each side- each treated with bold grey and white striped curtains. The entryway from the front door leads into the living room, also apart of the openness. There, I will place the grey buffet table (shown above) and the awesome light fixture (also above). The open staircase that lead into the basement is also in this area. My PLAN is to use the stainless railing with metal wiring (shown above) for the staircase railing. This is definitely nonconventional, but I love the contemporary look and uniqueness is gives.
Master Bathroom
If I could describe our master bathroom in one word, it would be GLAM! I will be using the same light-grey cabinets as in the kitchen, paired with the crystal knobs shown above. What I am most excited about is our HUGE shower that will contain a patterned accented tiled section using the morrocan mosaic shown above. It is so unique and bold, it will definitely be the focal point of the entire bathroom. Plus, the rain shower head isn’t so bad either. I used the same wall color (White Dove OC-17 by Benjamin Moore) as in the master bedroom. The off-white walls blend so well with the cabinets and the tile and pops with the gorg mini chandelier (shown above).
Master Bedroom
I have to incorporate my love for gold somewhere in the home- and the master bedroom is perfect for that. The royalty vibe is only appropriate for the bedroom of the Queen (and King) of the household. 😉 Using some pieces from our previous home I plan to accent the gold-mirrored furniture and tufted ivory headboard with some shades of grey and the White Dove (OC-17) paint by Benjamin Moore. Against my husband’s wishes, I am replacing a ceiling fan with the embellished light fixture shown above. It just adds to the glam-vibe that I must have.
Basement
The basement is the project Josh and I are most excited about! We love to entertain, so having a bad-ass basement is a must! We took our inspiration from The Hub in Louisville, Kentucky and are molding it into our own. Just like the upstairs, the basement will too have an open concept. In our last home, we had wood plank accent walls that were a hit, so we had to carry that same affect over into this home as well and pair it with the Edgecomb Gray (HC-173) paint by Benjamin Moore. The bar will be the focal-point of the basement and is what I am most excited about. The cabinets will be a dark charcoal-grey shaker with no uppers. Instead, we will be using black, rustic piping with wood shelves to display bottles of liquor all along the wall. And a white subway tile with dark grey grout will show behind. In the TV area, we have built an industrial mantle that will be wrapped in metal with an electric fireplace (just for looks). Edgy and industrial is definitely the look we are going for, and I cannot wait to see it all come together!
Next steps: While our tile is being laid, trim is being done, and cabinets being installed, I will be picking out the granite for my countertops. Nothing excites me more than a sweet piece of marble!

So excited to see it! My vote is for the round pendants in the kitchen. And tell Josh he can get an oscillating stand fan 😉
I feel like I know you with your blog posts and Instagram stories… it’s so exciting seeing all the fun details and makes me hopeful to build someday…. my vote is the square pendants I think they will tie in nicely with the chandelier in the entry way and over the dining room table. Can’t wait to see the finished home. 😊
My name is Amanda I love your photos I really liked the one of you in your big empty room with all that grey. You sure have your work cut out for you but looks like a project you can truly pour your heart and soul into. Enjoy your adventures in your new home.
