Derby Week may be over, but that doesn’t make me any less obsessed with my Thurby outfit. As you all know, this year was a little different, as I was styling a baby bump, so it was a little more difficult to find something cute and festive, but bump friendly.
The Dress
When I was scrolling through Instagram as I normally do, I saw a dress posted by a high-end boutique that I HAD to have. This Black Halo dress was perfect for the track- incorporating the red roses and bright colors, but it was a little out of my price range. Due to experience I have had with Rent the Runway (my bridesmaids rented their Badgley Mischka dresses from here), I thought I should check it out for this dress. And I was too dang lucky, because they had it in stock, and for an affordable price. The way Rent the Runway works, you rent a dress and receive 2 sizes for the price of one, that way you can wear the dress that fits the best. And with my growing bump, this was so important.
The Fascinator
Once I found the dress, I worked with Nicole from Finchy Baby Hats to create a custom fascinator. She designed this GORGEOUS, elaborate piece for me. By providing a picture of the dress I was planning on wearing, she was able to match it perfectly. I explained to her a little of my inspiration, while giving her total creative freedom. And she totally exceeded my expectations! Not only does she have a current inventory of gorgeous hats and fascinators, but she can also customize a piece for you just as she did for me. You can contact her through Instagram or Etsy.

This was by far my most favorite Derby look yet, and it makes me so excited for next year. Yes, this Kentucky gal is already planning for next year’s Derby week. 358 days, but who’s counting. 😉
wow! an ideal dress! Perfect! Love the color and the floral print. Ideally matches the heels!
Thank you so much! I loved this dress so much and thought it was perfect given the event. Run for the roses!!
