What do you do when you’re first name is Maverick? You have a photoshoot with a bad-a** airplane. I was so excited when my aviation-themed photoshoot for Mav’s first year photoshoot came to life. My photographer, Kirstie Goodman, completely exceeded my vision (as always). I still don’t see how she can get such amazing shots of a fussy 1-year-old, all while grabbing his attention, positioning us (and sometimes a dog), and analyzing the lighting. It is a true talent, my friends. And I was so blessed that my brother was able to organize the airplane through his high school teacher who is a pilot. I am forever grateful to the Neagle family & friends for setting up the plane and spot at the airport.
We decided to shoot at 7AM that morning, so the sun (and heat) were in our best interest. And man, did that sunset perform! The lighting was INSANELY perfect and made for the most awesome shots.
If you recall from our newborn photoshoot (you can find that blog post HERE), you know I played off the ‘Top Gun’ theme, propping that little 1-week-old booty with a leather bomber jacket and some oversized aviator sunglasses. Well, that same jacket was used during this photoshoot. It was so bittersweet to see him transition from that tiny newborn into such a handsome toddler, all in that little jacket. That baby is DEFINITELY going in his keepsake box.

I am so thankful I have these once-in-a-lifetime shots of my family. I am beyond thankful for all the work and time so many people devoted in order to make my vision come true. This shoot is one of my faves (ever!).
