Kentucky Derby Pie

Ingredients
  

  • 1 deep dish pie crust, unbaked
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans and/or walnuts
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsps bourbon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325ยบ
  • Sprinkle sugar all over pie crust, and lightly press into dough using fingers
  • Spread chopped nuts on bottom of pie crust
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of nuts
  • In a mixing bowl, wisk together eggs, butter, sugars flour, vanilla, and bourbon until smooth
  • Pour batter into the filled pie crust
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until top is a darker, golden brown
  • Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream
